Colour In The Kitchen

It seems we all want more colour in our lives, so move over monochrome, for 2020 colourful kitchens are where it's at. According to houzz.co.uk - the home improvement site, homeowners are uploading colourful kitchen pics in a range of bold shades including yellow! So I have gathered some different kitchen styles in a whole range of colours to inspire you - dive in......

Let's start with yellow then, isn't this kitchen a great big slab of sunshine? You couldn't be grumpy in the morning with this kitchen, well I could, but then I am not a morning person. Handleless doors like these are something we are seeing a lot of at the moment. The grey and white Moroccan-style tiles on the splashback add punchy pattern and the island unit is in pale grey with a teal cupboard carried through into the recess. That box shelving unit makes a great room divider too. Naked Kitchens

I love this sophisticated combination of deep olive green and mid grey. They look so good together and that gold trim under the worktop and between the drawers is a stroke of genius. The matching grey herringbone floor pulls the whole scheme together.

Everyone loves blue, it's a timeless shade, and this strong teal has depth and drama. A bank of tall units fills the space perfectly and is broken up with open shelves for cookery books. The contrasting hinges on the doors add subtle detailing. A pale wood island unit with a heavy grain finish in an unusual pinky tone stops it from all being too heavy. Day True

One of my favourite companies - stone specialists, Gerald Culliford They choose natural stone with amazing patterns and then feature it in such clever ways, this is a case in point - a stunning marble in green, black and white forms the island. With that as the hero, a simple plain white kitchen is all you need.

How about this for a sleek and sophisticated look? Units, sinks and worktop all in a seamless, deep burgundy shade. Trust the Italians to come up with something so stylish. There is a subtle bronze profile strip under the worktop and a matching bronze plinth to add a touch of luxury.

I just love this, its so jolly! Again handleless units in a mint shade with a slightly lighter shade on the wall units, teamed with a seamless aluminium splashback in a similar colour from Alusplash There are lots of colours to choose from, and its eco-friendly too. BUT oh that wallpaper! It's Fornasetti Arance from Cole & Son

Another green but a deep emerald shade in a really simple design with a dark wood back ground - which is a big trend at the moment - and open shelves break up the run. Again the background is picked up in the floor colour too. Malmo in matt bespoke Pantone Quetzal Green with Gloss Light Grey on the island unit, from £7500, Burbidge

If you don't want to go the whole hog with strong colour, think about introducing it in other ways, like this tangerine pantry unit. It adds a splash of colour in an otherwise plain kitchen, and if you get bored with it, just re-paint it! Shaker kitchen. Pantry unit from £4000, all Harvey Jones.

If you are happy with your kitchen cabinets but feel like a change, why not paint them? This soft palette is unusual but so easy to live with. Cabinets in First Light 2102-70, walls in Thunder AF-685 both Benjamin Moore

Again a grey kitchen is the backdrop but the raspberry coloured island packs a punch and makes the ordinary, extraordinary. Dunham in Truffle Oil and Pass The Merlot Magnet

Isn't this a great combination? This peachy orange is huge at the moment and teamed with crisp white and opulent gold, it takes it to another level. Soprano pendant, £75 Pooky

Here, classic wood is used but in an unusual, striking grain and teamed with a blue splashback. Changing the splashback is a quick and easy way to get a different look, and its simple to do. Alusplash
